Halloween is just two weeks away and like many people, my mind is on the spooky and the supernatural these days. It doesn’t hurt that my current work-in-progress happens to be all about the running from demons. Talk about creepy!
Well, the girls over at the YA Storytellers Society have all been blogging this week about our fave YA monsters and I figured it was about time I confessed to mine. Vampires are flashy and werewolves are warm and fuzzy, but my favorite monsters to read about are…
When I was in school, I read every book in our tiny school library that had anything to do with ghosts. I quickly blew through all the creepy ghost stories to full length paranormal fiction and finally on to nonfiction books about ghost hunting and paranormal research. Eventually, it got to the point where I had to stop reading so many creepy books because I was freaking myself out!
These days I don’t read many ghost stories and I absolutely hate scary movies. BUT, I am still a fan of the supernatural. I love shows like Ghost Hunters International (foreign travel, historic sites AND ghosts! Booyah!) And I’m writing about the spirit world in my new series, so that’s had me doing a lot of research. The only thing I don’t love about ghosts in a YA story…They make romance a little difficult!
If you want to see one of my new favorite ghosts, check out our new online book club. This month we’re reading Bait by KC Blake. See if you can spot the ghost in the story and then stop by our Goodreads group and let us know what you thought of it. I bet you’ll love it as much as I did! And did I mention that Bait is FREE this month? Hurry over and grab it now.
